Our vision

The Menorca Preservation Fund is a Spanish Registered Foundation established in November 2017. The Foundation has been co-founded by Ben Goldsmith and Fani Medina with the aim of supporting local environmental initiatives.

The Foundation raises funds locally and internationally from people and businesses that have strong connections to the island. These funds are then distributed to local projects with the aim of protecting and preserving Menorca’s environment, as well as its unique natural beauty.

We strongly believe that supporting local initiatives will have a strong positive impact and help to bring about the long-lasting change that Menorca needs if it is to preserve its precious environment.

HOW WE WORK

Using our scoping report and ongoing research, which covers the different environmental challenges in Menorca, the Menorca Preservation Fund works alongside key organisations focused on environmental projects on the island, in order to identify and support the areas where we can have the most significant and positive long-term preservation impact.

Projects will need to focus on one or more of our five areas of interest and can range from beach cleaning exercises to supporting local farmers with local food production, or even working with marine research organisations to improve the marine conservation efforts on Menorca.

Our people

OUR STEERING COMMITTEE (SC) is comprised of Menorcans, international environmentalists and local homeowners, all of whom share a common love for the island.

The SC meets every two months to approve grants and discuss fundraising. The intention is also to establish an Advisory Committee (AC), comprising local expertise to support the coordinator in selecting which grants to present to the SC.
